Box Office Brazil: Rio 2 has the best debut of an animation in the country

The adventure directed by Brazilian Carlos Saldanha took about 1.3 million Brazilians to the cinema on its release.

With the great popularity of Rio (2011 ) and an intense marketing campaign , it was expected that the second sequence came to Rio Brazilian theaters with great results . But the numbers were even better than expected : the adventure took about 1.3 million Brazilians to theaters , making it the best launch of an animation in the country . Despite debuting in large number of theaters , production recorded crowded rooms , with an estimated 905 spectators per room average.
The comedy S.O.S. - Women Overboard had good support and came in second , with about 300 thousand spectators , ahead of the action movie 300 - The Rise of the Empire ( third with 186,000 viewers ) and the national German thriller ( fourth, with 98 000 spectators ) . Complete the top 5 romantic comedy Dating or Freedom , with about 64 thousand spectators . Among the other releases of the week , the drama and suspense Between Us All by Justice won the seventh and ninth places, respectively .
