Instagram has passed the milestone of 400 million monthly active users.
That makes the photo social network Tuesday announced. There are now shared more than 80 million photos per day through the service. 2014 was the final count still at 300 million users.
75 percent of the total number Instagramgebruikers comes from outside of the United States. The last one hundred million users, more than half came from Asia or Europe. Last year, the social network saw particularly strong growth in Brazil, Japan and Indonesia.
Instagram since late 2014 bigger than Twitter, which currently has 314 million monthly active users. The rapidly growing Pinterest announced earlier this month announced monthly 100 million are active users.
Facebook, which owns Instagram, is still by far the largest social network with 1.49 billion monthly active users.
